Man shot dead by police
A non-national was shot dead by police when he attempted to flee the scene after he raped a female over the weekend. Police are currently trying to identify the man. According to the Commissioner of Police Matthias Lestrade, the said perpetrator robbed and raped the woman coming from a show at the Canefield ball-park

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved on February 4, 2008, SDR 2.05 million (about US$3.3 million) in emergency assistance for Dominica. This amount is available immediately to help the government deal with the effects of Hurricane Dean, which struck Dominica in August 2007.

Small Earthquake Hits Eastern Caribbean
An earthquake measuring 4.6 in magnitude occurred off Martinique on Wednesday afternoon, disaster officials have confirmed. According to the University of the West Seismic Unit at the St Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago the earthquake was felt in St. Lucia as well as Scotts Head in Dominica and Antigua.
