Man shot dead by police

A non-national was shot dead by police when he attempted to flee the scene after he raped a female over the weekend. Police are currently trying to identify the man.

US$3.3 million in emergency assistance for Dominica

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved on February 4, 2008, SDR 2.05 million (about US$3.3 million) in emergency assistance for Dominica. This amount is available immediately to help the government deal with the effects of Hurricane Dean, which struck Dominica in August 2007.

Dominica draw 1 -1 Against Barbados in World Cup Qualifier

ROSEAU, Dominica (AP) - Dominica and Barbados walked out of Windsor Park Wednesday night realizing they both could have won instead of settling for in a 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw in their first-round CONCACAF series.
Now, they will have to wait until March 26 in Barbados before they can settle their two-leg series.

Small Earthquake Hits Eastern Caribbean

An earthquake measuring 4.6 in magnitude occurred off Martinique on Wednesday afternoon, disaster officials have confirmed.
According to the University of the West Seismic Unit at the St Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago the earthquake was felt in St. Lucia as well as Scotts Head in Dominica and Antigua.
